“Your boarding pass doesn’t show TSA Pre.” Thus sayeth the TSA agent to me early this morning.
Nightmares of having to remove boots and belts and laptops and iPads immediately flew through my mind only to become reality as I was demoted to the oi poloi line.
Seems it expired back in March. Right after I took one of the last flights out of NYC and stopped collecting airline miles for 10 months.
I’m praying the renewal process flows easily. TSA says I can renew up to a year after expiration without going through the interview again. But my TSA status is through my Global Entry status. Global Entry appears tougher.
Getting into the country is more difficult than moving around once inside.
Most might think Jesus’ Kingdom similar.
While looking in from the outside we tend to equate citizenship in Jesus’ World with loss. It appears we lose personal freedoms. The ability to be our own boss and call our own shots.
Like moving back home after graduating from college into the bedroom still furnished with your blankey and posters of rock stars and junior high curfews.
Receiving Jesus as Savior and King and Lord does supplant the former boss. You’re right in understanding you turn over the keys. You follow someone other than you. You live no longer for yourself.
But the entry doesn’t require jumping through hoops or hitting targets or passing interviews seeking to unearth dark secrets in your past.
It’s simply getting the package from the rich aunt with no kids who treats you like one of her own. You know it’s something you couldn’t afford to buy yourself. All because she’s a great aunt.
You could leave it wrapped in the closet until next year. Or you could open it and begin enjoying it today. Your call.
I’m not looking forward to having to reinterview for Global Entry. I wonder if they’ll give a pastor a break?
