Will StartNew work in an existing church?

Yes, especially if you are looking to launch a new ministry or re-plant an existing one. Existing congregations have used our StartNew process to re-launch a recovery ministry, reposition a declining congregation to reach the young families in its community, and start a basketball league for elementary age children, just to name a few.

Can teams attend or is StartNew only for individuals?

We strongly encourage teams to attend StartNew. Our process develops entrepreneurial leaders in a sacramental framework, focusing especially on team building. The stronger the team, the stronger and faster the startup.

How does the coaching component work for a team?

After the 3Day weekend, your team leader will receive a list of 3 possible coaches. After interviewing the candidates, your team will choose the coach they think best suits them. From then on, the coach will coach the team each month in a team meeting, either by phone or video conference. A team coach makes for great communication, unity and movement within the team and thus within the startup.

Why does StartNew last two years?

Two years allows for building a strong foundation in the areas of community understanding and financial sustainability, two critical pieces of startups that thrive. We are concerned not only for the launch but also those initial years.

How is StartNew different from other church-planting bootcamps?

StartNew is different in three ways. First, since we are for more than church planters, you will learn from individuals both inside and outside the church planting world…and they’ll learn from you. Second, we do not train you to a model but a method. We combine the beauty of historic, sacramental theology with the wisdom of entrepreneurial business practices. Mother Teresa meets (a friendly) Mark Cuban. And third, we are a holistic process built on assessment, training, and coaching. All three ingredients come together over 2 years to provide the best equipping and encouraging. So while StartNew includes a 3Day experience and four followup 1Days, those events are only part of the process.

Why does StartNew last two years?

Yes. Certain organizations, denominations and networks provide scholarships for the SN process. FiveTwo offers scholarships to ethnic groups that have a real need for help.

Who is StartNew for?

StartNew is for individuals and congregations in any setting (urban/suburban/rural) and of any ethnicity who want to reach their community by starting something new. These startups can be church plants of all sizes and shapes, non-profits (like a mobile medical clinic being launched in Detroit), or Kingdom businesses (for-profit businesses whose resources benefit the local church). Generally speaking, if there is a significant cost incurred (staff, congregational focus, etc.) then our process is a perfect way to ensure the investment is a good one.

Are there additional costs for a team to attend StartNew?

Every team member who participates in our StartNew process must be assessed. Each assessment costs $500. We assess everyone on the team so to see the individual strengths and how best to build the entrepreneurial team. Once a team is accepted into the process, however, there is only one cost. A team of 1 or a team of 10 all pay the same monthly cost.

Can I take part in the assessment or coaching only or do I have to participate in the entire two-year incubator?

. Our proprietary assessment process is available by itself and is perfect for congregations and organizations looking to hire entrepreneurial leaders. Similarly, you can get one of our coaches without going through the StartNew process. Click here for info. However, to participate in our 3Day and 1Day training events, both the assessment and coaching are mandatory.

Does StartNew work with church plants?

Our process helps entrepreneurial leaders from all walks of life who want to start a variety of non-profit and for-profits, in urban, suburban and rural settings.

Does StartNew work with startups other than church plants?
