This morning’s 2-minute might go to 3. And it will likely ouch or aggravate you. Intentionally.
In my 59 years I’ve rarely met someone who works hard for both sides. People I know tend to lean one way or the other. The reasons are many. They don’t matter.
I’m asking you to have a foot in both worlds. To lean both ways, if you will. Today and into the future.
Here’s my ask: To be equally concerned and vocally loud for justice for those outside the womb as for those inside.
What matters is that you’re against injustice to all mankind.
Especially injustice for those who don’t possess the protection or position or skin-color or abilities to receive justice at every turn.
Especially injustice for those you’ve ignored because they don’t run in your circles or because to do so would be too disruptive to your comfort or lifestyle.
Many of my dearest friends over the past decades have been banner-wavers for the unborn. Amen and amen.
I’m asking you to package up your love for life and step out for those suffering injustice this side of the delivery room.
To allow your deep love for those powerless to protect themselves define how you treat those whom an anglo culture deems second-rate. To openly respect and admire every ethnic group you shop with, eat with, work with, entertain with.
To begin with you and your interactions. To begin with you and your family. On your street. In your neighborhood. Not just a woke-wagon for a few days but for the rest of your days.
Many of my dearest friends in the past few years have been banner-wavers for civil rights and justice for all races. Amen and amen.
I’m asking you to step out for those suffering injustice because they never make it to the delivery room.
To allow your deep love for the underserved and undervalued define how you treat those whom a consumeristic, comfort-prone culture deems second-rate. To openly respect and admire every human being regardless of mental ability or viability at every stage of development.
To begin with you and your interactions. To begin with you and your family. On your street. In your neighborhood. Not just a woke-wagon for a few days but for the rest of your days.
Man’s brokenness leads him to elevate himself over others. To put our needs above our neighbor’s. To place our comfort and prosperity before the well-being of the stranger or fellow citizen.
In our U.S. of A. that selfishness created two horrible tracks of oppression and death: racial injustice and abortion-on-demand.
Both devalue life. Both are at odds with our God who created life, redeemed life, and restores life.
Be with Jesus on these issues. Love your neighbor. Every neighbor. Everyday.
