If forced to label yourself would you choose ‘little’ or ‘much’?
If volume is more your thing perhaps you’d prefer ‘full’ or ‘empty?’
Consider the ingredients we strive for: Health. Riches. Friendships. Joy. Security.
Or the items we run away from: Pain. Illness. Loneliness. Poverty. Suffering.
Little or much? Full or empty?
Jesus once attended a dinner in a religious leader’s home.
An outcast woman overcome with emotion showed up. Used her tears to wash Jesus’ feet. Used her stash of expensive perfume to anoint Jesus’ feet.
The religious leaders recoiled at Jesus’ accepting the woman’s loving sacrifice.
Jesus told a story about debt. The conclusion being the more debt you have the more happy you are when it’s forgiven.
How often in life we think we’re full when we’re really empty.
When we think we’re full we tend to bypass Jesus. No need for a Savior. Or forgiveness. Already righteous enough.
The woman’s life overflowed with brokenness. Majored in outcast. Void of love and acceptance and hope.
Jesus’ accepted her as she was. He loved her in spite of who others said she was.
He emptied her of self-hate and filled her with His forgiveness.
He became a new beginning in her life. A new day revealing a new forever after.
She rejoiced.
How little do you love? How full of yourself are you?
The more broken you are the more whole Jesus can make you.
The more empty, the more your Savior will fill.
If you want.
