There will be a day when death and its flunkeys of crying, mourning and pain no longer hold court. Jesus promises the old order of such will disappear.
I’m ready for that day.
Until then we bump into death’s yes men on every corner.
A mom unable to write like she once could. A dad no longer remembering a son’s name. An L4/L5 disc bulging and sending you to bed with ice and Advil.
The prevalence of death’s byproducts makes it hard to imagine their absence. Especially when the economic engines and daily routines we revolved our lives around have temporarily run out of gas. Perhaps to be restarted soon. How soon?
“Behold I am making all things new.” The declaration of Jesus in Revelation 21 near the end of the Book. John’s vision of what Jesus promises to one day fulfill.
New as in beautiful cursive handwriting. New as in crisp forever memories. New as in bodies that never deteriorate or breakdown or cause pain.
New because the Creator Of All Things knows how to do new.
Remember Easter.
