2-Minute Multiplier: Topo Chico
Mineral water from Mexico. In a glass bottle. My current go-to water choice. Especially the grapefruit variety.
I’m sure I pay more for it than tap water. Certain, actually.
But I like it’s fizz. It fills me up. Makes me think I’m drinking something more than just same ol same ol water. Credit those citrus-infused bubbles.
(Note: If one’s about to do a webinar or record a podcast fizzy water is not the best option because it causes you to … expel gas through your mouth. While being recorded.)
Topo Chico does more than quench thirst. It also brings to mind my dad. Technically my step-dad but he embraced a recently divorced young mom and her 3 boys under 7 and never looked back.
Called us his sons even though we never legally were. But we were. And he was our Dad.
The Mexican water in a bottle refreshes memories of Dad because he was a Mexican from San Antonio who turned this little anglo boy into a Mexican wannabe. Infused us with menudo and mariachi music and arroz con pollo populated just right with cumin. Love me some cumin.
Taught us firsthand that mañana is a real concept while also teaching us how to pour cement and float a patio and hang sheetrock and tape and finish the joints. (You don’t want me to do that last part. Trust me.)
All of that in a grapefruit flavored Topo Chico. Mexican in a bottle. A really great Mexican.
Love how Jesus fills one’s soul with love from simple fizzy stuff.
