Someone recently asked me – do you have any suggestions on how to do the welcome at the start of our church service?
The answer is this: First of all, be joyful. This is the time for us to come together. To hear the gospel and the Good News. So, joy needs to really run the day.
You want to thank them. People took time out of the week to be there with you. Thank them. Let them know you know they’re there.
Make sure you tell them where to go and what to do if they have any questions at all about the ministry or the worship.
Address any special things in the service that guests would be stymied by. You don’t want to catch them by surprise. Give them a heads-up in this welcome time so that you’re just making them feel comfortable. You’re making sure that they’re not surprised in a bad way.
