If the granite-infested fields around my house were a stadium then yellow vs. brown is the current game being played.
Brown will take a huge lead in the next few weeks. No rain plus 95+ temps plus solid rock does that to vegetation.
But yellow will not give up the ghost until frost. Without understanding the how behind the end result I can testify the brighter the sun the more intense the yellow patches of a particular drought-tolerant flowery weed.
The flowers are tiny and precariously perched on top of long thin stems. Just enough greenery to convert sun beams into sun color. The poster child of floral efficiency.
The bright yellow draws your eyes away from the dying brown real estate. It proves life can flourish in the midst of death.
Many of the congregations we work with plateaued years ago resulting in a slide that’s picking up speed.
Our secret is to help them discover how to sow yellow flowers in the midst of discouragement and disappointment.
To not allow a scarcity mindset to set in. To not believe the common misbelief the ground is too hard for the Gospel.
The Word of God never returns void. Never.
Everywhere Jesus went life stuck to Him like glue. Jesus majors in life.
If life were a university it would be called Jesus U.
Where has Jesus deposited life in the midst of your arid and withering land? It’s there. I promise.
May He give you eyes to see the yellow in the midst of the wilted.
May He give you ears that hear how those weeds with hope on top are for your benefit.
