Jesus was at work in every one of your 365 days this year.
Arranging “chance” meetings.
Providing income through new sales.
Offering counsel through friends and strangers alike.
Helping you find a new job and giving you an encouraging spouse when you didn’t.
Protecting you from COVID and restoring your health when you came down with COVID and welcoming your mom into His arms when she lost her battle with COVID.
Restoring your marriage or friendship or relationship with your son.
Removing the guilt from your conscience so you could breath easier and love freely.
All of the above.
Quite possibly you went days without “seeing” Him. So wrapped up in your schedule and to-do’s that your eyes never noticed Him hanging around. Out of sight, out of mind.
A man named Simeon was waiting to see God’s promised Messiah in Jesus’ day. Waiting and waiting to get a glimpse.
God’s Spirit sent Simeon to the temple the day Jesus and His family showed up for purification and dedication rites. Jesus was 40 days old.
Simeon’s response: For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel. — Luke 2.30-32
Through eyes of faith Simeon saw the divine potential in the baby. All of God’s past promises come to life in a little boy. All of life’s uncertainties overcome by God’s newborn son. For all people and all eternity.
Simeon took that image home with him. That hope carried him through to his last days.
You don’t have to live your life wondering when God’s promises will come true for you.
You don’t have to go through a day believing you’re on your own or unworthy of God’s attention.
You don’t have to act as if the love of others isn’t important or loving others is of no value.
Jesus is your salvation. Jesus is the light for each of your days. Jesus is God’s newborn son born for you.
Jesus was with you every day this year. He’ll be with you every day in the next.
