Some days feed on it. Some weeks count it their best friend.
Humongous or tiny. Stretched across hours of anticipation or falling like a rock instantly.
What next when the future you desired dissolves while still a dream? Or blows away like smoke from a snuffed out candle?
Engagements stop short of weddings. Contracts go unsigned. Diseases hang on.
A sovereign God says, “No. Not now. Maybe never.”
His answers feel mean and unloving. Beyond our understanding. Outside our comprehension.
We beg and plead. Shake fists. Kick walls. Say we’re leaving.
But we can’t seem to shake Him. His love won’t let Him leave.
Every time we turn around, He’s there. Every time we tell Him to go, He stays.
Every morning. Every night. Every day.
His Son translating our suffering into hope. His Spirit translating our pain into prayer.
His all-powerful blending into all-loving.
Always for us and with us and within us.
Even in our disappointment.
