I’ve had an orchid obsession for at least a decade.
Historically I’ve bought an orchid. Nurtured it for a few months until it looses all of its blooms. Then half-way tried to get it to rebloom or simply discarded it.
I’ve read books. Watched YouTube. Alas. Only once in 10 years did I get an orchid to re-bloom.
Until now.
Last Christmas I met an avid orchid grower in our neighborhood. Of the “before we built the main house we built a greenhouse” genre. I’m a fan.
In less than 30 seconds Ginny taught me all I needed to know to get an orchid to re-bloom: East to southeast sun and water weakly weekly.
The first is easy to understand. The second is code for “water weekly with a weak fertilizer.”
I’ve followed Orchid-Meister Ginny’s directions and now have four orchids reblooming in abundance. Yes you read correctly: FOUR.
I’m a new man. Hope-filled. Able to walk right by the orchid section of HEB without any desire to drop another $20.
How often in our lives do we view something formerly beautiful as disposable? We once viewed it worth our money and hearts but somehow it lost its original glow and so we threw it away.
How frequently we rely on ourselves to get a dream to reignite or a relationship to restart to no avail.
How beautiful when Jesus leads us to a Ginny who possesses reblooming wisdom. Who knows how much water and sun to add. Who offers knowledge outside of us for the changes needed within us.
Where do you need a Ginny? Where do you need some east sun and weekly weakly watering? Ask Jesus to send her today.
