God routinely sends me wise people.
An incredible wife. Various Christian business leaders. Fellow pastors. Gifted staff. My children whose knowledge exceeds mine in multiple areas.
Over the years God brought wisdom-laden friends and family from afar to bless me with their gifts.
Sometimes ribbon-wrapped direction, so that I got to where I wanted to go. Sometimes tinsel-tied rebuke, so that I traveled well with others. Sometimes courage worth its weight in gold, so that I persevered toward an uncertain future.
Always hope that brought peace because it was centered in Jesus.
Not a false hope promising my wildest dreams would undoubtedly succeed. Rather a true hope grounded in the certainty that Jesus’ plan will prevail and will always turn out for my good.
A wise man named Solomon once penned, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” – Proverbs 1.7
Fear being of the multi-pronged variety: Respect and awe for His power and ability. A side helping of afraid and intimidated knowing I never want to get on the wrong side of him. A large dose of comfort knowing Jesus makes sure that never happens.
Divinely smart people sent from God to remind me I’m under God’s authority. Accountable to Him while also cared for by Him. Loved by Him so I can love others.
I’m glad God sent wise people to Jesus. I’m glad He sends wise people to me.
