It’s a quirky Bible verse of sorts. Especially out of context.
“Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.” (Acts 13.46)
When you first read it you have to read it again. Kind of like, “Well, if YOU don’t want the Porsche Cayman GT4 that’s behind door #3, I’ll find someone else.”
When would you not want the free Porsche?
Probably when you think it’s not really free. There’s a catch. Always is.
Except for this time. Not if you know how the Gospel works.
Gospel: Jesus has restored creation’s relationship with its Creator.
Which means your relationship with your Father is now good-to-go. Not because of your worthiness, mind you. Because of Jesus’.
Everything Jesus did while on earth shrink wraps you for a free trip to a really cool place when your time on earth is done.
You’ll be at Table #1 with the close family at the wedding reception complete with open bar and a miraculous ability to dance like there’s no tomorrow.
Don’t worry: you’ll love dancing.
Unworthy you becomes worthy you. Snap. Like that. Done.
So don’t consider yourself unworthy and reject the Jesus who makes you worthy.
Sit back and relax. Jesus has this.
